Government and 2015 National Assembly agree to review four laws to strengthen democratic coexistence

Delegations from the National Government and the 2015 National Assembly have agreed to initiate a process of deep review of four legal instruments, with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of peace, reconciliation, and democratic coexistence in Venezuela. This commitment was announced at the conclusion of the third round of talks within the National Dialogue Table this October 21.

Among the laws proposed for review is the Law on Political Parties, Public Meetings, and Demonstrations, which seeks to guarantee the participation of political actors, pluralism, and the autonomy of organizations with political objectives.

It was also agreed to review the Organic Law of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Fiscal Control System, specifically regarding procedures for disqualification from holding public office. The agenda further includes the «Libertador Simón Bolívar» Organic Law and the Organic Law Against Organized Crime and Terrorism Financing, specifically concerning the definition and legal classification of terrorism.

This agreement aims to advance legal mechanisms that foster democratic coexistence, as well as mutual respect and recognition among the various political actors. Both delegations committed to monitoring the progress of this process and ensuring compliance with the agreements reached.
