Delegations from the 2015 National Assembly and the current National Assembly concluded the third round of dialogue, scheduling for between November 11 and 15 the start of a new series of talks.
During a press conference following the meeting, representatives indicated that they are evaluating institutional mechanisms, such as the creation of a defense stance for the Protection of Guarantees, a figure that could be established through legislation or by a direct agreement between the parties at the negotiating table.
Regarding the establishment of an electoral timeline, they emphasized that the primary focus is on renewing public institutions and restoring political guarantees, prior to defining a definitive schedule for presidential elections:
«We have the political will, day by day, to commit ourselves to pursuing this path by following this roadmap—which entails the reinstitutionalization of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice and the National Electoral Council, the establishment of a foundation for political and civil guarantees, and the creation of a framework for freedom of expression,» they emphasized.
Likewise, the international community’s interest in supporting the process was highlighted: «The United States is also interested in supporting this process of democratic stabilization and the establishment of political guarantees for the future of our country.»
