Electricity System Law will improve service and promote investment

The First Vice President of the National Assembly (AN), Deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Miranda), announced that the reform of the National Electricity System Law will improve service and promote investment in the sector.

This Thursday, at the closure of the ordinary session in which 70 articles of the draft law were approved, the lawmaker explained that the legal initiative contemplates to remove administrative bottlenecks and open spaces to private and foreign investment, with the goal of providing the economic strength required by the National Electricity System.

Infante also detailed that, thanks to input from various sectors across the country, the proposed legislation preserves the State’s central role in the system’s strategic functions, while simultaneously enabling self-generation for sectors such as the oil industry, in order to safeguard the electricity supply for citizens.
