After a high-level work journey at Miraflores Palace, the Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, described the visit of U.S. Secretary of Energy Christopher Wright as historic, and projected a permanent work schedule.
At the closure of the meeting, the national dignitary emphasized that the consolidation of the bilateral Energy Agenda with the U.S. is just beginning: “We know that this first trip will become the aperture for many more travels on that we are sure to have Secretary Wright and his technical teams as visitors,” she affirmed.
The deployment, which included a review of strategic projects in hydrocarbons and basic services, represents a shift in bilateral relations between Caracas and Washington. In this regard, Rodríguez stressed that the Bolivarian Government maintains a policy of open doors to the foreign investments under conditions of mutual respect. The Acting President stressed that this roadmap aims to be “productive, effective, and beneficial for both countries.”
Technical cooperation and diplomacy of results:
The implementation of the Energy Agenda counts already with significant advances on the operational terrain. Rodríguez reported that during the latest hours have been produced in-depth meetings between specialists. “The large technical delegation that accompanies the Secretary has also had and held meetings with their Venezuelan technical counterparts, exploring ways to advance as quickly as possible,” explained the dignitary.
This effort of technical coordination seeks to materialize concrete plans in areas that had previously been limited. In this regard, she detailed that “in the concrete aspects we have talked about projects related to oil, gas, mining, and electricity,” areas that will serve as the pillars of national economic recovery.
Finally, the dignitary made a call to maintain the institutional communication channels to safeguard this cooperation process: “May the diplomatic dialogue, the political dialogue, the energy dialogue to which we are giving a warm welcome, be the appropriate and relevant channels for the United States of America and Venezuela to address these issues with maturity,” she concluded, thus reaffirming that the Energy Agenda is the path to overcome differences and build shared prosperity for both peoples.
