The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia, rejected on behalf of Venezuela the recent statements made by the Chancellor of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Mario Lubetkin.
On his account on the X social network, the Venezuelan Chancellor rejected views that, in his assessment, diverge from the national reality and the country’s process of democratic coexistence:
«In response to the statements by the Foreign Minister of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the antiquated and arrogant views that disrespect the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, and which have nothing to do with the transformation process Venezuela is advancing through political dialogue for democratic coexistence,» asserted Plasencia.
The statements by the Venezuelan Chancellor were in response to those made by his Uruguayan counterpart, who stated that his country would not resume bilateral relations while the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, remains in power, noting that the solution for Venezuela «is very clear: hold elections, let someone win.»
«Statements and stances of this nature constitute inadmissible interference. Venezuela’s future will be defined by its people, in strict adherence to its Constitution and legal framework,» Plasencia emphasized.
