The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, called during her address to the 2026 World Food Forum in Rome, Italy, to put an end to unilateral coercive measures and to avoid food to be used as an instrument of political pressure.
«Food should never become an instrument of political pressure or confrontation. Where differences exist between states, dialogue and diplomacy must prevail. Where hunger exists, our shared responsibility is to find solutions,» emphasized the dignitary.
«We reiterate our call to put an end to measures that, at the margin of international law, have negative implications for the right to food,» the President added.
Rodríguez noted that restrictions had affected 16% of the agrifood sector, the technologies and equipment needed for production; however, she pointed out that Venezuela managed to overcome those obstacles and is now advancing toward a process of transformation that is orderly, institutional, and verifiable.
«Venezuela experienced then a severe food supply crisis that affected the entire society,» and «we hope to have begun reversing that reality. National dialogue with opposition factors, as well as the diplomatic dialogue with the United States of America, has contributed to the political stability needed for production and growth,» the head of state noted.
