During this Tuesday’s ordinary session, the First Vice President of the National Assembly (AN), Deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Miranda), highlighted the full reincorporation of Venezuela to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Infante noted that this achievement represents a significant step forward for parliamentary diplomacy, because it guarantees the participation of Venezuela, with an active voice, in this multilateral body and the recognition of the National Assembly.
He specified that a representation of the Legislative Branch, consisting of three parliamentarians, is currently attending the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Said delegation is comprised by the Parliament’s Second Vice President, Deputy Grecia Colmenares (PSUV/Táchira), and Deputies Saúl Ortega (PSUV/Carabobo) and José Gregorio Correa (AD/National).
The deputy explained, in his remarks, that Deputy Colmenares had conveyed the news regarding the approval of Venezuela’s full reinstatement into the international organization.
Also, he emphasized that this fact constitutes the fully exercise of the right of the country to speak and state its position during global inter-parliamentary debates.
Forum in Madrid:
Likewise, he reported on the participation of a delegation comprised by seven members from the National Assembly in the 12th Ibero-American Parliamentary Forum, held last week in Madrid, Spain.
The congressman highlighted that, during the meeting, were discussed issues of great importance to the region and the multilateral parliamentary agenda, which ratifies the Venezuelan Parliament’s institutional commitment to maintaining a presence in international forums for dialogue and cooperation.
He concluded by congratulating the lawmakers and athletes who participated in the sporting events held in Caracas last weekend, particularly those who successfully completed the 10-kilometer «Caracas Rock» race on Sunday.
