The third round of the Dialogue Table will take place in mid-October, as reported on Friday Jorge Rodríguez, head of the National Government delegation, while offering a balance on the progress of negotiations and the advances achieved by the parties.
Rodríguez qualified the development of the process as a success, asserting that the talks are proceeding on a «very good track» through the realization of tangible agreements.
He highlighted that a key point addressed during the day’s discussions was the participants’ unanimous stance against political violence:
«At the table was made clear the rejection we all have against any form of violent expression within the framework of trying to gain political advantage through isolated actions,» he emphasized.
Regarding the enforcement of the recently signed energy agreement, the President of the National Assembly clarified that legal experts from various sectors are evaluating whether it requires the approval of the National Assembly or if it will come into effect directly.
Finally, when asked about the country’s electoral schedule, Rodríguez reaffirmed that the timeframes set forth in the Constitution would be met. «Of course there will be elections; we have parliamentary, mayoral, gubernatorial, and presidential elections ahead of us within the timeframe established by the Constitution,» he concluded.
