With high expectations concluded this Tuesday a high-level meeting between the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and U.S. President Donald Trump in New York, as both leaders agreed to advance a bilateral agenda. The meeting took place behind closed doors at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, on the sidelines of a reception hosted for foreign leaders during the UN High-Level Week.
At the meeting participated the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
During the journey, the Venezuelan dignitary highlighted the focus on a work agenda aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in strategic areas such as energy, mining, and security. Likewise, she expressed the gratitude of the Venezuelan State and people to the U.S. Government for the assistance provided following the earthquakes of last June 24, as well as for the support regarding the country’s reintegration into multilateral forums.
Rodríguez emphasized that both nations share a historical trajectory that is now entering a new phase based on constructive dialogue. She further reaffirmed the commitment to promote a sovereign diplomacy, aimed at achieving concrete results that generate well-being for the population.
It is expected for this Wednesday the intervention of President Rodríguez in the 81st sessions term of the United Nations General Assembly.
