Venezuela and the United Kingdom raise the level of their diplomatic relations

Venezuela and the United Kingdom have raised the level of their diplomatic relations in order to deepen dialogue and promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as highlighted Oliver Blanco, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, this Tuesday.

«Venezuela values the United Kingdom’s decision to raise the level of diplomatic relations with our country. We reaffirm our readiness to deepen a respectful and constructive dialogue, as well as to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest to our nations and thus advance in the recovery of resources that rightfully belong to the Venezuelan people,» detailed Blanco via his account on the X social network.

For his part, the British Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Colin Dick, noted that the decision would allow for deepening the cooperation, such as the reconstruction efforts following the earthquakes of June 24.

«I hope that the United Kingdom and Venezuela will work even more closely in the coming years,» Dick expressed.

In a written statement presented on Tuesday to the European nation’s Parliament, the Minister for Latin America, Chris Elmore, announced that «the British Government has decided to upgrade the level of its diplomatic relations with Venezuela.»

The document specified that «the United Kingdom and Venezuela have agreed on their intention to raise their diplomatic representation to the ambassadorial level.»

Likewise, the text further indicates that this decision «will allow us to deepen our collaboration with the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and with her government, in line with the United Kingdom’s priorities.»

The statement adds that the new level of relations will also allow to reinforce attention to British citizens and to promote the interests of businesses.
