Venezuela reaffirms to the UN its commitment to the 2030 agenda

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Coromoto Godoy, participated in the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, where she reaffirmed the South American nation’s commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

During her remarks on the Goal 11 of Sustainable Development (SDG 11): Sustainable Cities and Communities seeks inclusive, safe, and resilient settlements, Godoy emphasized that the integral disaster risk management is a priority for the Latin American and Caribbean region, where an urban resilience approach is needed that goes beyond emergency response, as refers the ambassador on her account on the Instagram social network.

“Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, we point out that President Delcy Rodríguez has prioritized state policies focused on resilient construction, safe reconstruction, and the modernization of national infrastructure with the support of countries with extensive experience in this area,” stated Godoy.

In this context, she warned that unilateral coercive measures and the blocking of financial resources abroad limit access to technologies and early warning systems for natural disasters, and also hinder the international cooperation mechanisms which are essential for strengthening response capacity.
