President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez meets with U.S. delegation within the framework of attention deployment after June 24 earthquakes

With the aim of coordinating rescue operations, humanitarian assistance, and logistics following the devastating earthquakes of June 24 in La Guaira state, the President in Charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a work meeting with officials from the U.S..

The Venezuelan delegation included the Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello; General in Chief Gustavo González López, the Minister of People’s Power for Defense; Oliver Blanco, the Vice Minister for Europe and North America; and Félix Plasencia, head of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission in the United States.

By the U.S. delegation were participating the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Venezuela, John Barrett; the head of U.S. Southern Command, General Francis Donovan. and the deputy commander of U.S. Northern Command, Major General Kevin J. Jarrard, who is in charge of overseeing the rescue and salvage operations of the U.S. task forces in the central coastal state.

Cooperation between Caracas and Washington to address the emergency has focused on three immediate action areas: The optimization of search and rescue efforts, the distribution of international aid, and establishing temporary camps for those persons who were affected.

Lastly, these joint efforts aim to lay the groundwork for a new cooperation agenda to aid in the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in La Guaira state.
