The Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, accompanied by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and the Sectoral Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, offered today a detailed update to national and international media regarding the process of releases initiated in December 2025 under instructions of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
During the press conference, the Acting President emphasized that this action constitutes an initiative of the Venezuelan State that was outlined by President Nicolás Maduro in order to open spaces for tolerance and understanding, aimed at fostering coexistence and tolerance within the framework of the law and respect for human rights.
She informed that, since its start last December, the process has allowed for the release of 194 people. To date, the total number amounts to 406 releases, demonstrating the continuity and commitment to this policy of openness.
The Acting President explained that the process is being carried out under clear parameters and in coordination with the country’s bodies of justice. Are being attended with priority those cases related to crimes linked to hatred, violence, and intolerance.
“The objective is to open political spaces based on divergence and political and ideological diversity, with respect for the other”, affirmed Rodríguez, while also emphasizing: “Messages of hatred and acts of violence will not be tolerated. The law will be strictly enforced.”
The Acting President made a call for a transition towards a stage of coexistence and mutual recognition, that allows “to build and establish a new spirituality” for the country. She acknowledged that it is an “arduous process” that remains under development.
She was also emphatic in rejecting any kind of misinformation about the process: “It is fundamental to report the truth. This process must be free from the falsehoods that some ‘NGOs’ have intended to sell about Venezuela”.
The Bolivarian Government reiterates its commitment to laying the foundations for peaceful coexistence within the strict respect for the Venezuelan rule of law and human rights.
