Was proposed new law to protect and promote agroecological crops

From a meeting with rural producers in Trujillo state, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez Gómez, supported the initiative to propose a Law for the protection of agroecological crops.

In this regard, Rodríguez said: “If we do not worry about the existence of this planet, who is going to worry?; Until now we have not found an extraterrestrial, a Martian who thinks for us how to take care of the planet.»

Highlighting the extraordinary richness of the soil of Trujillo state, Rodríguez pointed out that «we have to take care of this planet by ourselves, and if you tell me that in one hectare you can produce 16 tons of corn, when the national average is three 3.5 tons, go imagine what that would mean.»

«That would mean less water, more care for the environment, less fuel, less pollution, more care for human life, because would not be used those fertilizers which do nothing other than contaminate the environment and make people sick.»

Regarding the legislative proposal, he said: «It occurred to me that we could review, from the National Assembly, the creation of a law for the defense of agroecology, that we must create it, that we must develop it together.»
