The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, affirmed this Tuesday that Venezuela aspires to become a major gas-producing power, capable of both supplying the domestic market and exporting, during an address at the 8th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF)—held in Moscow, Russia.
“We want to be a gas-producing powerhouse for both national consumption and export!” expressed Rodríguez, who highlighted the Venezuelan energy potential and the importance of international cooperation for the sector’s development.
The dignitary noted that global demand for natural gas is projected to increase by more than 30% by 2055, and she defended the role of this resource as a clean, reliable, and affordable energy source.
“Peace and strict respect for international law are indispensable conditions for global energy stability,” she maintained.
Rodríguez emphasized that the new Organic Hydrocarbons Law in Venezuela offers stable contractual terms and transparent models for energy projects. In this regard, she noted that the country is making its reserves available to foster cooperation among nations and promote shared prosperity.
The summit is being developed in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the GECF, which comprises 12 full members and eight observer countries that, jointly, hold 71% of the world’s proven gas reserves and account for 40% of global marketed gas production.
