On the evening of this Wednesday, July 29, Diosdado Cabello, Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), reported that one month after the two seismic doublet, the national government has thoroughly reviewed and supported the work carried out in the affected areas.
On his «Con El Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer) program, Cabello specified that the number of aftershocks (1,592) has been decreasing, amon other causes because of the adjustment of tectonic plates. He noted that a few days after the earthquakes, «we began with 179 per day on the first day, and today we have around 15.»
He took the opportunity to acknowledge the people, «for understanding this moment the country has experienced and for the fortitude shown in enduring with dignity and great effort all the attacks that have been made, intended to generate unrest, despair, and doubt among the people.»
«I acknowledge all Venezuelans for their solidarity, their love, their affection, their dedication, and for the necessary support they have provided to the people of La Guaira and the affected towns and families. This week they attempted a very powerful attack, on the night of the 23rd. They set up their entire media apparatus to make the people believe that there were some people trapped alive in a certain place, and they acted maliciously against the people,» he stated.
