The President of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, announced the start of a joint work sheet with former members of Parliament from the 2015-2020 term, beginning next August 1st.
Through an official statement, he emphasized that this initiative is framed within the call for national unity to jointly address the consequences of the two earthquakes that struck the country last June 24th, as well as to strengthen the mechanisms of democracy.
The text of the communication adds that the unanimous support of the international community for the Venezuelan people and the National Government to face the tragedy, underscores that only through unity can progress be made in reconstruction and the maintenance of peace. These statements are made within a context where international organizations and nations from around the world have mobilized rescue teams to support relief efforts on the ground.
The call for unity also resonates with the actions undertaken by the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, who has led the coordination of the humanitarian response and has thanked for the assistance of numerous countries that have deployed search and rescue teams.
