President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez reported that she contacted the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, to request the release of more than five billion dollars in draft funds currently blocked by the institution. These funds would be used for the urgent assistance of families and disaster areas affected by the devastating earthquakes that happened two weeks ago:
“Yesterday, I spoke with the director of the International Monetary Fund, and I thank her for her attention and understanding regarding the release of Venezuela’s blocked funds,” informed the national dignitary during a work meeting with those in charge of the Temporary Shelters housing those Venezuelan men and women who lost their homes, belongings, and even family members due to the geological disaster.
The President in Charge stated that the search, rescue, protection, and shelter efforts for the families will continue in an uninterrupted manner.
“My greatest joy will be on the day we deliver housing solutions to each of you, when we hand over your homes and transform your hope into the joy of everyone,” expressed the high government officer.
