The President in Charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, offered a press conference for national and international media. During her intervention, she described the recent earthquakes as a natural tragedy of a scale that the country’s authorities never imagined.
Despite the impact of the emergency, the dignitary in charge noted that the Venezuelan people had always received prior preventative instructions. Likewise, she emphasized that the citizenry remained in constant preparation to face potential seismic events in the country.
Rodríguez explained that the Venezuelan government mobilized in a jointly and immediate manner to address the emergency. In order to centralize rescue efforts, the Executive Branch formally established the General Staff to coordinate all humanitarian assistance actions.
Likewise, the president in charge also reported that on the first day of the emergency were deployed 4,000 personnel to the affected areas. The operational units continue to work in a coordinated manner to provide protection and priority care to the affected communities.
