The President in Charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced that in the coming days will be presented housing projects with the goal of beginning construction on homes for the people and families affected by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes of June 24.
She made the declaration during the launch of the Venezuela Renace (Venezuela Reborn) Plan, where she emphasized that the country has requested international technical support “in order to continue updating regulations and protocols for future construction projects.”
“In the coming days, we will present to the country housing projects so that the people that are in the camps know they will have a home. I know that there are some who have lost hope, but we will transform that hope into joy the day we deliver a house to someone who was a victim of the earthquake,” she affirmed.
During the day, he contacted the governor of Aragua state, Johana Sánchez, where buildings classified under the yellow alert level are being addressed after inspections by teams from the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing and Infrastructure Habitability.
“We are advancing in structural reinforcement, shoring up the structures to level them. We will move forward with masonry and cladding work. We are also addressing mental health issues. In Aragua state, we have a volunteer force of more than 5,000 men and women,” detailed Sánchez.
Likewise, in contact with the governor of La Guaira state, José Alejandro Terán, from the “Brisa del Aeropuerto” housing complex, he reported that they are making advances in the recovery and reconstruction of the entity.
In that regard, the regional dignitary added that the Ministry for Public Works has assessed 20 buildings as having received the green light, meaning they did not suffer structural damage. Likewise, he noted that there are plans for the immediate reconstruction of 600 apartments for families currently living in temporary camps.
He emphasized that with this work, within a few weeks these people will be able to return to their homes safely.
