President Delcy Rodríguez meets in Caracas with UNESCO regional director Anne Lemaistre

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a strategic meeting with the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture, Anne Lemaistre, to coordinate joint actions to address the damages caused by the earthquakes that occurred last June 24.

During this meeting, in which also participated the Vice Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco; the Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Alexander Yánez; and the Venezuelan Ambassador to UNESCO, Ernesto Villegas, was established a common technical roadmap for the design and formulation of an integral aid plan, which will be implemented with strict respect for national sovereignty and the Venezuelan law.

The priority objectives of this alliance are centered on ensuring the continuity of education and school reconstruction, working closely with the Vice Presidency for Territorial Socialism. Likewise, the plan includes fundamental agreements with the scientific and environmental sectors, besides providing specialized assistance in temporary camps.

Lemaistre, who has a distinguished career in international relations, arrived in the country last Monday, July 13, to carry out an extensive work agenda that includes meetings with government officials, the private sector, and various actors of the civil society.
