President Delcy Rodríguez commemorates 150th anniversary of the transfer of the remains of the Liberator Simón Bolívar to the National Pantheon

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, led this Wednesday the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the transfer of the mortal remains of the Liberator Simón Bolívar to the Monumental Complex National Pantheon and Mausoleum of the Liberator.

Upon her arrival at the iconic site, the National Dignitary was received with the honors befitting her high office and proceeded to lay a floral offering before the sarcophagus of the Father of the Homeland, in tribute to his emancipatory struggle.

The ceremony also marks the completion of a comprehensive restoration and rehabilitation project at the National Pantheon, carried out over 106 days under the «Venezuela Renace» (Venezuela Reborn) Plan, through the joint efforts of Mission «Venezuela Bella» (Beautiful Venezuela) and the Ministry of People’s Power for Public Works.

These works of intervention at the site, located in the Altagracia parish, were undertaken following damage caused by the seismic event of last June 24.

The work included the repair of facades, walls, and roofs; the creation of a replica of the central pinnacle damaged by the earthquake; and the meticulous conservation of artistic assets of great heritage value.

This significant architectural and patriotic handover also coincides with the 151st anniversary of the site’s inauguration. Declared a National Monument in 2002, the monumental complex houses the remains and symbolic monuments of 150 illustrious figures from the nation’s history, among independence heroes, heads of state, and notable heroines such as Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, Teresa Carreño, and Manuela Sáenz.
