PRO-TEMPORE PRESIDENCY
SOUTHERN COMMON MARKET
(MERCOSUR)
COMMUNIQUÉ
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the legitimate exercise of the Pro-Tempore Presidency of MERCOSUR, rejects the threats and attacks proffered by the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, and the de facto President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Michel Temer, who persist in their efforts to implode and destroy MERCOSUR.
The Triple Alliance, formed by the Governments of Argentina, Paraguay and the de facto Government of Brazil, threatens the stability of this economic, commercial and social integration block, underestimates and undermines the productive potential of our countries, destroying the social and labor matrixes of their workers and affects the projection of this bloc in international markets.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has incorporated the regulatory legacy of MERCOSUR with much more effectiveness and efficency, in only four years, than what was yielded by these countries through 25 years since its foundation. The political and ideological intolerance of these right-wing Governments intends to attack the Bolivarian Revolution, its Government and its people, in order to justify, through anti-juridical ruses, their destructive antidemocratic proceedings.
The pro-tempore Presidency of MERCOSUR demands to the de facto government of Brazil and that of Argentina for respect, to adjust their behavior to the strict adherence to the founding treaties of this regional organization, as well as the historical development of our peoples.
