EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
COMMUNIQUÉ
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its most blunt rejection of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to the Republic of Cuba and its people for over 50 years.
The criminal blockade is an unilateral, extraterritorial, outdated and anachronistic measure, which expresses the most vivid expression of the imperial vocation of domination, whose sole purpose has been unsuccessfully trying to subjugate and subdue through hardship, disease and misery to the heroic Cuban people.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela demands that the United States abide by the demands of the international community, expressed in more than 20 resolutions of the UN General Assembly against the blockade which in 2015 obtained the almost unanimous support of the Organization.
The United States must meet the condemnation of the criminal blockade by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), expressed unanimously at the summit in Costa Rica in January 2015, and also the repeated expressions of rejection by the Movement of Non aligned Countries according to their anti-imperialist and peace founding principles.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its full solidarity with the people and government of the Republic of Cuba, and expresses in advance its full support to the resolution “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba” to be presented at the UN on October 26. Along with Bolivar and Martí we raise the banner of freedom and independence of our peoples.
