President Maduro to his counterpart Putin: We have achieved a very high level of understanding and maturity between both nations

During a videoconference, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, celebrated 80 years of relations between the two nations.

In this meeting, the Venezuelan President highlighted the importance of the great victory of the Russian army over Nazi-fascism as an event in the history of humanity:

The history of humanity cannot be understood without the great victory of the Soviet Union, the Red Army, and the Russian people over Nazi-fascism,” emphasized the Venezuelan head of state.

In this regard, he emphasized that “we have already been working as a team to advance a grand celebration for the eightieth anniversary,” and expressed his desire to “convey our congratulations in advance to the people of Russia.”

High-Level Commemoration:

In this context, the President announced that Venezuela has given instructions to carry out «a profound commemoration, a high-five, popular, political, institutional, and military celebration of this great triumph» and revealed that within this framework, «a grand monument in homage to the Russian army» will be inaugurated.

He also referred to the progress in bilateral relations and stated that he hopes that during this day, the «Strategic Operational Partnership Agreement between Venezuela and Russia» can be signed.

Strategic Operational Agreement:

This agreement seeks to elevate relations between the two countries to the highest level in various fields, including economics, energy cooperation, public health, and technology.

(…) The economic and commercial field, the financial and banking field, the field of energy cooperation, which is now increasingly strengthened, the field of industrial cooperation, public health, transportation, agriculture, information technology, cooperation in space, geology in subsoil use, tourism, science, education, culture, and sports,” he explained.

Putin describes the level of relations as strategic:

For his part, Vladimir Putin highlighted the strength of the ties between the two nations, stating that “relations have reached the level of a strategic partnership.”

The Russian President recognized the role of his counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, in defending Venezuelan sovereignty and emphasized that the exchange with Russia “is based on friendship, trust, and consideration of the interests of both.”

Both leaders agreed on the historical significance of their collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to continue working together in the 21st century.
