Maduro: GNB must preserve the historical consciousness of the direction of the Revolution


The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, participated in the ceremony of the 79th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), which was held at the Paseo Los Proceres (The Heroes Stroll) in Caracas, where also graduated over 5,600 officers.
Maduro emphasized in that activity that the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), should be erected as a defense body “With a historical consciousness of the direction we will take, where we are going to, and what are the values we must have”, he said.
In that event the Head of State praised the work carried out by the National Guard to guarantee peace and the protection of national sovereignty, also stressed the struggle and resistance of the Venezuelan people and the military forces to achieve the freedom of the national territory.
“This is the consciousness of a civic- military Homeland which is united in defense of the independence, the national constituent assembly of 1999 gave a constitutional status to the armed forces”, said Maduro.
“It’s a single historical path, 500 years of resistance and struggle, this land regained its path”, noted President Nicolas Maduro, who was accompanied by the first fighter woman Cilia Flores, the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, General-in-Chief Vladimir Padrino Lopez, and other members of the military High Command and members of the Executive Power.
The GNB was created on August 4, 1937 by then President, General Eleazar Lopez Contreras. Its origin is from September 17, 1936, when it was decreed the creation of the School of National Security Service, after in June of that year, the Governments of Venezuela and Spain agreed for a Spanish mission to be responsible for the training and commissioning of said body security.
