The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, denounced before the Rapporteur of the United Nations (UN) for Unilateral Coercive Measures, Idris Yazary, the economic blockade imposed against Venezuela by the Governments of the United States (USA) and the European Union (EU).

The meeting, held in connection with Arreaza’s speech at the 39th session of the UN Human Rights Council, was confirmed by the Vice Minister of International Communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, William Castillo, through his account on Twitter.

The Venezuelan official indicated that during the meeting was reiterated the invitation to the UN Rapporteur for Unilateral Coercive Measures to visit Venezuela to “verify the effects of the economic war on the Venezuelan people”.

Previously, the Chancellor of the Republic asked the Human Rights Council to condemn the economic aggressions against Venezuela, as well as the unilateral measures the great powers have taken against the Venezuelans.

On the second day of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, held in Geneva, Switzerland, Arreaza noted that the blockade of Venezuelan funds prevents access to medicines and food.

In his speech, he spoke about the economic war, the induced migration, the media campaigns against Venezuelans and the frustrated assassination against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
