The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, said on Tuesday that in the process of collecting signatures by the self-called Democratic Unity Board (MUD), as the first phase to trigger a revoking referendum, was consummated a “big fraud against the nation”.
“The one who is directing this process, a failed presidential candidate, rather than getting programmed, organized, has appointed to the front to people who are fugitives from justice, for the collection of signatures. They had 30 days (to do so) and used 4: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and between Sunday night and Monday morning, they brought the boxes to the CNE, stating that they were delivering 3 million audited signatures, and this was the first great deception to the country”, said the National President.
In this regard, he said that they never delivered 3 million (signatures), but a total of 1,957,779 signatures, and when the review process began after the audits, it was determined that a 31 percent of those signatures submitted were irregular.
“Pure piracy, fraud, manipulation, there were forged signatures, there were signing 11,000 deceased people, prisoners, acknowledged revolutionary cadres”, said the President during his program “Contacto con Maduro” (Contact with Maduro),broadcast from the Junin Theater in Caracas.
In this regard, he urged the authorities to investigate the truth about the signatures that were immersed in irregularities.
