The Chancellor of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, during the meeting of the different Ministries of People’s Power to discuss border issues with Colombia, said that “the trans-frontier crime, paramilitarism and drug trafficking affect the bilateral trade and the Venezuelan currency. ”
The information was announced during the meeting that took place on Thursday at the Yellow House “Antonio Jose de Sucre”, in order to address aspects of the relationship with Colombia in the socioeconomic context in the border states.
Also during the meeting, Chancellor Delcy Rodriguez mentioned the recent meeting held with the delegation of the Economic Development Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America (Cepal), recalling that the governments of Venezuela and Colombia requested to that body- one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations – for a technical work in order to analyze the economic, financial and trade issues at the border, considered one of the most active ones in the world.
Rodriguez reported that at the meeting with the delegation of the Cepal, were offered some advances on the requested report, including how the trans-border crime, paramilitarism and drug trafficking affect bilateral trade and the Venezuelan currency, as well as the price differential and the way in which the legal and formal trade has been virtually replaced by extraction smuggling.
In this regard, the Labor Bureau of the Mission New Frontier of Peace, established by instruction of the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, will permanently and deeply address the binational situation and joint work plans to be undertaken in coordination to normalize relations with the neighboring country, Colombia.
Finally, it is important to remember that last March 22, Minister Rodriguez had already held a working meeting with Daniel Titelman, director of ECLAC, in order to provide information on the Bolivarian Economic Agenda, the 14 productive engines and the modalities of the economic war against Venezuela.
