The Minister of People’s Power for Oil and Mining, Eulogio del Pino, reported on Sunday that Venezuela is studying the marketing of gasoline on the border with Colombia.
He said that, along with the Governor of Tachira state, José Gregorio Vielma Mora, are advancing on discussions regarding this, and will soon present proposals to President Nicolas Maduro.
“It is logical that Venezuelan gasoline that is benefiting the border can be marketed, we are advancing on talks regarding this, these are measures that have to be made, part of the reestablishment of economic equilibrium that we are developing”, he said.
Del Pino recalled that to fill a tank of 91 octanes gasoline in Venezuela costs an average of Bs. 40, while in Colombia it would total around 490 bolivars.
Increase in Gasoline price:
In relation to an upcoming rise in the price of gasoline in the country, the minister said that this decision should only be offered by the President Nicolas Maduro, due to the great importance of this issue for the community.
He said that the Venezuelan people are quite conscious and that, of running a new adjustment, it would be gradual, in order not to negatively impact the economy of the population.
“The increase that has already been made, passed in the population without assuming it as a crisis, as some sectors planned. (…). It is required, and President Maduro has requested us so, that there is gradualism on its impact, without any sudden jumps, for it to be something that the people can go anticipating and assimilating” he said.
