President Nicolás Maduro activates committee to defend Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador

In a strong statement, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the creation of the Committee of Relatives of Venezuelans Kidnapped in Concentration Camps in El Salvador.

This committee has contacted prominent law firms and human rights defenders in that country, with the intention of securing the release of 238 people illegally deported from the United States:

«This committee will act on the legal side while we act on the diplomatic side, to achieve the goal of freeing these young men,» announced the head of state, who was in the Bolívar Park in La Carlota (Caracas), during the inauguration of the 48th National Fair of the Zebu Cattle and its Crosses.

Call for Justice:

The Venezuelan president called on the people of El Salvador and the justices of the Supreme Court of the Central American country, urging them to take action to encourage President Nayib Bukele to understand the illegality of his actions in this matter:

Supreme Court of Justice of El Salvador, justices, for the love of God, in the name of Óscar Arnulfo Romero, I ask for justice. These young men have not committed crimes in El Salvador and must be released and quickly returned to their families in Venezuela,” President Maduro stated firmly, highlighting the urgent need for action by the Salvadoran judicial system.

Defense of Due Process and Human Rights:

The head of state emphasized that none of the Venezuelans kidnapped have committed crimes, either in El Salvador or in the United States. He emphasized that, even if someone had committed a crime on US soil, it is up to US judges to try them and they should not be arbitrarily deported elsewhere:

This did not happen. On the contrary, a judge in the United States issued an order prohibiting the deportation of migrants to other countries, and it was ignored. There is a constitutional crisis in the United States due to this incident, caused by the arrogance of the Pharaoh,” he noted, referring to President Donald Trump’s administration as an example of abuses of power that undermine the rule of law.
