The president of the newly appointed Expanded and Inclusive National Commission for the Elaboration of the Constitutional Reform Project, Tarek William Saab, pointed out that this instance “will address fundamental axes of popular democracy, the modern economy and the new society.»
Saab, who will be accompanied in the Secretariat by the first combatant woman, Cilia Flores, and by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, said that the project presented by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, consists of 85 articles, «which will be debated with all of Venezuelan society without any distinction.»
He reiterated that the initiative of the Constitutional Reform is part of the electoral promise made by the head of State, who also announced the preliminary work of the secretariat, which will have 90 days to deliver the project:
“The President is meeting an electoral promise he made when he set out to tour the country; there are already traces of that work, we are going towards a modernization”, he commented.
He assured that, as part of the strategies, “there is an important organic work that will be massified in regional assemblies and municipal consultations”.
The Attorney General of the Republic also highlighted the majority support of all the Venezuelan people: “We have seen grow the humanistic part of the Venezuelan, which is far from fascism; we will speak out against anti-values, we will have the necessary constitutional and legal tools”.
People’s Power with constitutional rank:
As a main element he referred to the incorporation of the People’s Power within the new Magna Carta (…): “It is a contribution that the Revolution has given to Latin America and the world, the commune as a popular space, and we have learned from it”.
In this sense, he affirmed the work of the Public Ministry (MP), «we go to the communities,» therefore, «the People’s Power deserves to have a constitutional rank, where the Venezuela of the street and the deep is heard,» he emphasized.
Finally, he affirmed that «what the head of State has done is of historical significance, the reference of a universal character,» and recalled that «it is something that President Hugo Chavez did when he won the presidency in 1998, the promise to go to a constituent process.»
«Maduro, as heir to Chavez’s legacy to succeed his mandate, makes a continuity at the moment. 25 years later he promised to go to a reform and he fulfilled in the message to the nation on January 15, he announced the main lines and assigned a commission to start the work of the reform,» pointed out Saab.
