President Nicolás Maduro orders to accelerate vaccination process against COVID-19

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the Presidential Commission for the fight against Coronavirus – COVID-19, to increase efforts within the framework of the national vaccination plan in order to reach the goal of vaccinating 70 percent of the population in the country for October 31 of the current year.

This was instructed by the national president during the presentation of the weekly balance of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, when informing that the country reached today a rate of 56% of the vaccinated population, a figure that he considered should be exceeded according to what is contemplated:

COVID-19 has not ended, it has not passed, it is very important to remember it, one thing is that with the 7 + 7 method, for more than a year we have managed to appease the COVID, control the COVID, and another thing is for COVID to no longer be there, there is still COVID”, reflected the head of state.

In this effort, he recalled that this Monday, October 25, begin the vaccination process for boys and girls and young people over 12 years of age, within the framework of the return to face-to-face classes in the country:

I make a call to all those over 18 years of age, I ratified my call to go to the vaccination centers without needing a prior appointment (…) the more vaccinations and vaccinated people there are, the more normality, more freedom, more tranquility, the more progress we are going to have, It’s that simple”, he reiterated.

In this sense, executive vice president Delcy Rodríguez announced that 5,000 high schools nationwide will be enabled as vaccination centers against COVID-19, which will be added to the more than 800 vaccination centers that are active in the country, of which 40 % correspond to facilities of the Barrio Adentro health network.
