“We have established a relationship for the first time with TikTok Latin America, I think we agree that the challenges must end and if TikTok does not end these dangerous challenges, the Venezuelan law will be applied,” warned this Monday the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, after announcing the receipt of a letter sent by the authorities of that social network in response to the country’s protest about the danger of the “viral challenges” that this technological platform spreads.
“I have breaking news: The letter that TikTok Latin America addresses to Minister Jorge Márquez, in response, (this is) the first time they respond to a letter of alert and protest against the dissemination of content that is harmful to the minds of children and youth,” he said when showing the letter during the Zona Digital segment of his weekly “Con Maduro+” program.
Lamenting that three Venezuelan children have died due to these challenges, he directly blamed the authorities and “invisible” owners of TikTok and demanded that they act accordingly: “TikTok, it is your responsibility for the death of these children, which will haunt you to the grave.”
“Sooner rather than later they will have to respond, because it is a crime. They censor other topics and accounts, but they promote the worst. Why do they want to destroy societies? You are invisible, the bosses of TikTok are invisible, but there is a God who is watching you,” he rebuked as a karma present in this thorny issue.
He reported that the issue of challenges on these social networks is in vogue, because it has become a direct threat to children, youth and society in general.
He commented that the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) began its hearings in response to the public complaint of the affected sectors, and what the highest judicial authority decides will be a sacred issue for the Bolivarian Government: “This issue has alerted national society and we are aware that whatever the Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ determines, I will not hesitate to apply it, because the priority is to defend life, education, of children and youth.”
He also recalled that Venezuelan students, from secondary education and university, after the congresses held this weekend, proposed to evaluate ideas to combat these digital dangers, and will offer their reports to the presidency to manage possible options.
The National President warned that TikTok signals do not depend on Venezuela, and are not regulated by national laws. For this reason, the National Assembly (AN) is also discussing the issue:
“We are starting with the opinion of the youth, in a process to clean up those harmful and harmful contents of Social Networks. We are not blackmailable people, nor were we born on the day of cowards; we are very good in good ways, but in bad ways we are capable of anything to defend Venezuela, its children and its youth,” he testified emphatically.
“In Venezuela there will be State, Law, Order and Justice. You will see it!”
