The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled this Friday the historic intervention of Commander Hugo Chávez in the United Nations Organization (UN), 18 years ago, and assured that he was a visionary who never hesitated in the face of US imperialism.
On his Telegram channel, the head of state highlighted: “It smells like sulfur!”, a phrase that will forever remain in the imaginery not only of Venezuelans, but of the whole world.
“Our Commander Chavez, always a visionary, ahead of his time, as a good Bolivarian, never hesitated in the face of US imperialism, he took on the voice of the humble ones who cried out for justice, freedom, respect and equality among nations, against the system of hegemonic domination that threatens humanity.”
In this sense, the national leader said: “Today we remember his historic intervention in the UN 18 years ago, being loyal and consistent to his noble cause for the construction of a new world.”
It should be noted that, after 18 years, Venezuela continues the battle to have its sovereignty respected, in the face of interference from foreign governments. On this occasion, Venezuela, once again at the UN, rejects the report presented this Friday by the failed Lima group, as an instrument of coercion and blackmail of sovereign peoples and governments.
