AN approves Law for the Promotion of Non-Oil Exports

The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the Law for the Promotion of Non-Petroleum Exports, aimed at facilitating the commercial exit of Venezuelan merchandise to the international arena. This ratification took place after the second discussion of this law, with the presence of businessmen and representatives of the export sector, who were special guests in the Chamber of Sessions of the Federal Legislative Palace.

The president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, stated that the Venezuelan economy is the one that «is growing the most on this continent and above all we have a level of production in areas other than the oil industry, which makes us more sovereign, independent and more solid.» Therefore, the approval of this legislation is historic in nature, since it will make it possible to end the traditional model of oil income and exploitation, in transition towards a diversified economy of business entrepreneurship.

Deputy Óscar Rondero (AD), stated that said Law is “a product of dialogue” with the production, industry and export sectors. In addition, the legislation provides legal, fiscal, and credit incentives; as well as specific regulations for Venezuelan exporters: “The plan is to strengthen the Venezuelan industry, so that it can compete on equal terms with any of the industries of neighboring countries in the region,” stated Rondero.

Regarding this law, deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra (PSUV), stated that the new regulations “help with the simplification of export procedures. In 60 days, if you want to export, you will only have to go to a window,” stated parliamentarian Maduro Guerra. He explained that the commercial procedure is simple, and “will be carried out by a single office with all the requirements,” and thus businessmen will be able to “take their merchandise through the ports and airports of Venezuela.”
