Was sanctioned Law for Inclusion and Development of People with Disabilities

The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved in second discussion the Organic Law for the Inclusion, Equality and Comprehensive Development of People with Disabilities, which contains five chapters and 112 articles that establish the autonomy of people with disabilities to exercise their rights and guarantees under conditions of equality and non-discrimination.

It also guarantees their participation and inclusion in their families and communities, as well as in cultural, sporting, economic, educational, political, recreational and any other spaces where they operate, allowing the full and free development of their personality:

We are protagonists of a day of vindication, history and inclusion of the achievement of the efforts of people with some type of disability, who for three years have fought for a Law that encompasses in its title, the spirit and intention of the legislator with this instrument,” stressed the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez.

For her part, representative María Gabriela Vega highlighted that “this is a fight that has been underway since Commander Hugo Chávez arrived to govern the destinies of the country. Thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution in 2007, we had the opportunity to have our first Law.”

“Today is a historic day for all the people of Venezuela, which is why we must thank the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who believes that regardless of disabilities we can contribute to the country,” he added.
