Copppal supports dialogue between Venezuela and Guyana on the Essequibo

Authorities of the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean (Copppal), expressed through an official communiqué their solidarity support for the beginning of direct dialogue between the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and his counterpart from Guyana, Irfaan Ali, with the aim of establishing a negotiated solution to the territorial controversy that exists over the more than 159,000 square kilometers that make up the Guayana Esequiba.

The president of Copppal, Alejandro Moreno, requested to give peace a chance to guarantee between sisterly nations, the development of the region to offer a solution to the conflict: «It is time for a dispute of more than 124 years to come to an end by the path of constructive understanding between both nations of our Americas, favorable to the sustainable development of Guayana Esequiba for the benefit of both parties and the entire Greater Caribbean region,» he expressed.
