Venezuela confirms 152 new positive cases and three deaths due to coronavirus

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed this Monday 152 new positive cases for the Covid-19 coronavirus, bringing the total number of those infected by the outbreak to 1,662.

During a work meeting at Miraflores Palace, the Venezuelan head of state explained that six cases are of community transmission, and 146 are imported cases.

In this sense, he pointed out that with the detection of community transmission cases it has become evident that “all this quarantine work, searching for cases gives results, it continues giving results”.

Regarding the imported cases, he emphasized that they were detected on the border with Colombia and Brazil in the states of Zulia, Táchira, Apure (bordering Colombia) and in Santa Elena de Uairén, a city in Bolívar state bordering Brazil.

It should be noted that, given the accelerated increase in imported cases, the National Executive decreed a curfew in the border municipalities, in addition, ordered that all Venezuelans who entered the country through the border, should remain at the border posts and fulfill a mandatory quarantine of 14 days.

He also reported on three new deaths, which brings the number of fatalities from the outbreak to 17.
