ICS: Maduro would win presidential elections with 62.7%

The most recent study by the International Consulting Service (ICS) research company, projects a potential victory for President Nicolás Maduro Moros in the upcoming presidential elections in 2024.

According to the general director of ICS, statistician Juan Villamizar, when asking respondents: If the presidential elections were to be held tomorrow, which candidate would you vote for?, 62.7% of people responded they would do so for a candidate from the Great Patriotic Pole, while 21.8% would do so for a candidate from the Unitary Platform and 15.5% for other opposition candidates.

Regarding political self-definition, Villamizar comments that 41% of the population identifies as “Chavista” and 6% as “pro-Chavista independent.” Moreover, 30% define themselves as “Ni-ni” (nor one thing or the other), 18% as opposition and 5% as “independent pro-opposition.”

The study also shows that 6 out of 10 Venezuelans would be willing to attend the call for a referendum for the defense of Essequibo,” as explained by the General Director of ICS. When asked: “If there were a consultative referendum next week, would you participate?” 59.9% answered yes, 21.02% said no and 19.08% did not know.

The figures produced by the opinion study indicate that 89.3% of Venezuelans understand that the oil transnationals and the United States have the intention of stripping us of the Essequibo territory.

ICS asked: Regardless of political positions, we should all be united in the fight for Essequibo?, to which 57.9% responded a lot, 33% a little and 9.1% not at all. “The figures indicate that there is a majority consensus in Venezuela to fight for the Essequibo territory,” highlighted Professor Juan Villamizar.

7 out of 10 Venezuelans are informed about the holding of the referendum in defense of Guayana Esequiba, according to ICS research. 68.8% responded that they are informed and 31.2% that they are not.

“This implies that the campaign deployed by the institutions of the Venezuelan State and the various organizations with political, social, sports, cultural, military purposes, and other organizations of various kinds, has had an effect on the population and has managed to raise awareness among the majority of Venezuelans around the issue of defense of Essequibo” interpreted statistician Juan Villamizar.
