Venezuela rejects aggressions against its institutionality from the Presidency of Colombia

Through a communiqué, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its rejection of the expressions of aggression by the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, against the Venezuelan democratic institutions.

In the document, the Bolivarian Government urges the Colombian administration to address the serious internal crisis suffered by its population, as a result of the internal conflict and the expansion of the drug industry.

Read below the communiqué of the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs:

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its firm rejection of the desperate expressions by the President of the Republic of Colombia against the democratic institutions and the popular will of Venezuelans and Venezuelans. Obviously, the obsessive aggressions of Iván Duque are undoubtedly due to the dramatic decline in popularity of his administration reflected in the publication of recent polls that show the discomfort of the Colombian people to the gray results of his first hundred days of government.

It is absolutely laughable that the President of the country that is the world’s leader in drug trafficking, narco-politics, paramilitarism, parapolitics, kidnapping, false positives, production and processing of drugs and selective violence against social leaders, intends to give lessons in democracy and institutional governance to the Venezuelans and world.

As it has become customary, President Iván Duque not only tries to overlap his low popularity by making hostile and scandalous statements against Venezuela, but also evades his international responsibilities in the face of the high rates of violence unleashed by the internal conflict in Colombia, negligence and inaction of the State and the uncontrolled expansion of the drug industry, a phenomena that has generated not one, but several records of flagrant crimes against Humanity.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela calls on the Colombian authorities to dedicate themselves to addressing and resolving their serious internal problems and to avoid using Venezuela to distract their public opinion and obtain resources from the international system with unparalleled goals. Venezuela will always be at the service of the Colombian people to guarantee lasting peace and to cooperate in terms of respect and goodwill.
