Venezuela denounces media campaign promoted by ExxonMobil to prevent consultative referendum

By warning of the promotion of a campaign in the media and social networks led by the ExxonMobil Oil company, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that the American company seeks to confuse the Venezuelan people to prevent the holding of the consultative referendum on December 3:

“I want to alert all the social movements, groups, columns, communities and all the people of Venezuela that have started a dirty campaign, with a lot of money from ExxonMobil on social networks, to try to prevent the referendum from being held, to try to sabotage and try to confuse the people,” warned the Head of State, from the Acoustic Shell of the Generalísimo “Francisco de Miranda” Park, located in Miranda state.

During a meeting with social movements in defense of Essequibo, he emphasized that “ExxonMobil is financing this dirty campaign and behind it the government of the United States of America, because it is ExxonMobil that owns the government of Guyana, it owns the politicians of Guyana.”

He denounced that the American company has handed the country’s oil wealth in the worst conditions to the people of Guyana:

They do not get a single drop of oil, and the people of Guyana are mired in misery, in abandonment and the Southern Command owns the territory of Guyana, governs, directs, commands (…) the Southern Command of the United States are the heads of the military and police of Guyana, they humiliate them, they impose their orders on them, that is the truth,” he stressed.
