During his speech at the Climate Summit in Congo, Gil highlighted the importance of this meeting and pointed out that “this is an opportunity to unite in action the territories on which a great responsibility weighs to face the challenges derived from the climate crisis that threatens the existence of life itself on the planet.”

In that sense, he emphasized the need to care for and preserve in a steady and sustainable manner all the existing resources in the Amazonian, African and Asian regions; “This makes our regions the key point to be able to think that in 200 years human life as we know it will exist.”

The minister reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to add contributions to the initiative of the Congolese Government, while ensuring that these proposals envision the geopolitical strength and influence that the aforementioned regions have to sue the hegemonic powers, large transnationals that promote the excessive consumption of natural resources, to fulfill their international commitments under the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities to provide, through the cooperation of new and additional resources, for the sustainable growth of developing countries.
