The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will soon convene a world conference on the issue of migration, announced President Nicolás Maduro, during the 13th edition of his program “Con Maduro+”, on Monday, August 21.

“Here in Venezuela we are going to convene a world conference on the issue of migration very soon, because we are going to demand the United Nations to guarantee the citizen rights of all migrants in the world,” argued the Venezuelan head of state as part of the objectives of this conference.

The President emphasized that migrants have the right to citizenship, labor rights, social security and respect for their dignity.

He exemplified: “Venezuelan migrants who live in other parts of the world, I send my greetings to you. I always tell migrants: Here we are with open arms, the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan), for anyone who wants to return. Venezuela is unique, our human candor, our capacity, our love, our history is unique”.

The Central Axes of the announced conference point to the demand so that “citizenship and social rights be guaranteed, and we are going to join forces in the world”, which will include requesting support “from the Brics, we are going to ask for support to the G77+China, to the Non-Aligned Countries Movement so that we take it as a global cause”.

The Venezuelan Dignitary insisted that it is about claiming the right to citizenship, to social rights, to dignified treatment of all migrants, wherever they are: “Enough of xenophobia, persecution, stigmatization, and denial of rights,” he said, while maintaining that “it will be a world conference that will be announced very soon with the participation of all the countries of the world.”
