Advancing the necessary protocols to materialize the air connection between Beijing and Caracas is one of the agreements signed in the 17th China-Venezuela Joint High Commission (CMAN), an action described as “historic” by the Minister of People’s Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán:
“In these almost 50 years of relations with China, the air services agreement that was signed -this Tuesday, September 13- is historic because it allows us to establish the air bridge so that the airlines of China and Venezuela can fly regularly to both destinations”, he stated from the headquarters of the Venezuelan Embassy in the People’s Republic of China, located in the city of Beijing.
He explained that the Beijing – Caracas air route will not only expand the tourist offer, but will also contribute to the increase of bilateral trade. In this sense, Velásquez Araguayán pointed out that it is “a true integration mechanism” that “will favor approachment to a country as strategic and important for Venezuela as China.”
“In Venezuela there is a very significant Chinese community and here the Conviasa airline – as President Nicolás Maduro has announced – will soon establish that air bridge to make family members meet, to strengthen the economy and have that approach to a country so important for Venezuela. Such as China,” added Velásquez Araguayán.
In relation to the necessary steps for the activation of the Caracas – Beijing air connection, he specified that delegations from both countries have already held preparatory meetings to establish a roadmap that allows the beginning of the processes corresponding to the accreditation of Conviasa, according to the Chinese legislation:
“In the next few days will be traveling to China a Technical Commission made up of the president of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics, the president of the National Aeronautical Company and the representation of Conviasa that will live in China in order to begin with all the regulations, so that sooner rather than later we can start flights between Venezuela and China; and thus materialize the air bridge that is so strategic and important for the integration of brother countries,” he stressed.
