Venezuela ratifies its commitment to work with the Non-Aligned Countries Movement

Venezuela ratified this Wednesday its commitment to work jointly with the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM), to promote new strategies, facing the post-pandemic era:

From #Venezuela under the guidelines of Pres. @NicolasMaduro, we reaffirm our commitment to #NAM, its fighting spirit and the Bandung Principles. We underline the importance of defending, preserving and promoting our positions and our working methods”, wrote the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría, on his account on the Twitter social network.

In this sense, he emphasized that decision-making by consensus is vital to strengthen the unity of all peoples, always respecting diversity.

“We are convinced that decision-making by consensus will help strengthen the cohesion of our membership, always guided by the solidarity that characterizes us and by the premise of “Unity in Diversity”, stressed Faría.

The first summit of the Non-Aligned Countries Movement was held in Belgrade between September 1 and 6, 1961, officiating the creation of the organization.

The NAM is an important forum for political coordination made up of 120 member countries that have the objective of raising their voices on behalf of the interests and priorities of developing nations from various continents.

Its main objective is to establish an alliance of independent states and establish a neutral current and non-alignment with the international politics of the great powers.
