The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-Peoples’ Trade Treaty, denounce the arbitrary blocking of the payment made by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the acquisition of vaccines against Covid-19, through the COVAX mechanism.
This illegal action, carried out by the Swiss UBS bank, is a consequence of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government and its effects on the financial sector, which threaten well-being, health, safety and the right to life of the peoples.
ALBA highlights the need for all Human Rights to be fully respected, especially the right to life and health, and demands the immediate lifting of unilateral coercive measures that prevent affected countries from effectively facing COVID-19.
