Venezuela and Iran strengthen bilateral cooperation in defense of multilateralism and peace diplomacy

The Sectoral Vice President for Economy, Tareck El Aissami, held a working meeting on Monday with the Oil Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Owji, with the purpose of continuing to deepen bilateral cooperation mechanisms in oil matters in defense of multilateralism and of peace diplomacy.

El Aissami, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, was pleased with the visit and the position assumed by the Persian nation in the construction of routes and mechanisms to overcome the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the government of the United States and allied countries against the people.

During the meeting, both officials carried out a detailed follow-up of the various agreements established between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially those that point to the hydrocarbons area.

Likewise, were reviewed the different opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas and petrochemical sector, as well as in the multilateral sphere with the perfect alliances that Caracas and Tehran maintain within OPEC and the OPEC+ Declaration of Cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Mr. Fereydoon Hasanvand, President of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran and, on behalf of Venezuela, by the president of PDVSA Asdrúbal Chávez.
