Bolivarian Government and World Food Program coordinate incorporation of new states

The Sectoral Vice President and Minister of People’s Power for Planning, Ricardo Menéndez, held a meeting with the representative in Venezuela of the United Nations World Food Program, Laura Melo, with the aim of following up on the plans and incorporating new states of the country to it:

It is an issue of strategic importance, we are evaluating what has been done in the western states of the country, specifically in Yaracuy, Falcón, Trujillo and Barinas, as well as other entities that are going to be incorporated into the school feeding program, which is being developed jointly with the Ministry of People’s Power for Education”, said Menéndez.

Likewise, the Minister of Planning also announced that in the coming weeks there will be meetings with the regional authorities of states Anzoátegui, Monagas, Delta Amacuro and Sucre, to make the principles of the food program prevail in those entities: “We want to share our experiences, such as the CLAP, which has been a social program that has helped our people”.

On her behalf, Laura Melo, representative in Venezuela of the United Nations World Food Program, held several meetings including with the Minister of Education to establish work parameters in the country’s schools:

WFP has cooperated with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for several years, on issues related to nutrition, food security, education, social protection and emergency preparedness, among others. The idea is to focus on children from initial schools”, stressed Melo.

Similarly, the Minister of People’s Power for Education, Yelitze Santaella, indicated that work is being done in different schools to implement the Program promoted by the United Nations: “What is sought with this food program is to consolidate the relationship with our people, we have been doing it through the CLAP, because we want to achieve excellence for our children and adolescents”.
