Certified drone operators for safeguarding of the electrical system

A total of 99 workers from the Prevention and Protection department of the Corporación Eléctrica Nacional, S.A. (National Electric Corporation – CORPOELEC) were certified in the management of Remotely Piloted Aircraft, which will help monitor the National Electric System (SEN)

This was reported by the Sectoral Vice President for Public Works and Services, G/J Néstor Reverol, who in turn stated that 57 drones were delivered to the country’s entities, including eight with thermal cameras, each located in a strategic region.

The also Minister of People’s Power for Electric Energy stressed that the objective is “to supervise the more than 31 thousand kilometers of transmission lines and also, the more than 843 transmission and distribution substations that we have throughout the territory.”

He specified that these actions will contribute to developing a Supervision and Surveillance Plan for the transmission lines and substations; as well as detect forest fires in the national territory, due to the dry period that the country is going through”.
